The colonial zoanthids Palythoa harbor a wide diversity of associated microorganisms including bacteria, promising source of biologically active compounds. New chromomycins, isolated from a Streptomyces sp. associated to the Brazilian Palythoa caribaeorum, showed potent cytotoxicity against resistant tumor cells (IC50 of 0.2 to 133 nM). Details are presented in the Article Dextrorotatory Chromomycins from the Marine Streptomyces sp. Associated to Palythoa caribaeorum by Francisco C. L. Pinto, Edilberto R. Silveira, Ana Caroline L. Vasconcelos, Katharine G. D. Florêncio, Francisca A. S. Oliveira, Bianca B. Sahm, Letícia V. Costa-Lotufo, Anelize Bauermeister, Norberto P. Lopes, Diego V. Wilke and Otília D. L. Pessoa on page 143.

Determination of Catechol and Hydroquinone by Using Perilla frutescens Activated Carbon Modified Glassy Carbon Electrode

Meiqin Zheng ; Jingjing Zhu; Rongrong Fan; Yujie Wang; Zhaojun Lv; Yongming Han; Jun Peng; Xinyu Zheng; Ruiyu Lin

How to cite this article

Hydroquinone (HQ) and catechol (CC) cannot be separated at the bare glassy carbon electrode (GCE). On the contrary, distinguishable redox peaks of HQ and CC can be observed at high specific surface area activated carbon prepared by Perilla frutescens (PFHSAAC)/GCE. So it is possible to determine HQ and CC by using PFHSAAC/GCE.
