Phenethylamines derivatives such as NBOMes and NBOHs are potent serotonin 5-HT2A receptor agonists belonging to the psychedelic class of drugs. They are commonly incorporated in blotter papers and their seizures intensified over the last decades. Infrared spectroscopy combined with a two-stage discriminant model has shown to be a non-destructive, fast, direct, and accurate method easily implemented in forensic laboratories. Details are presented in the Article Identification of Synthetic Drugs on Seized Blotter Papers Using ATR-FTIR and PLS-DA: Routine Application in a Forensic Laboratory by Maísa F. Custódio, Laiz O. Magalhães, Luciano C. Arantes and Jez W. B. Braga on page 513.
