A quantitative analysis method by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was developed using only a few standards and through the use of relative response factors (FRRIs) applied to compounds of the same family or similar. This method facilitates the quantitative (approximate) analysis of complex samples such as bio-oils. Samples of sawdust bio-oil, obtained at different catalyst/biomass ratios (CTB), were analyzed, being found a direct relationship between CTB and the concentration of phenols.

Stress factors such as the temperature increase inside the colony could promote absconding in Apis mellifera. In this aspect, 9-ODA ((E)-9-oxodec-2-enoic acid) and 9-HDA ((E)-9-hydroxydec-2-enoic acid) levels could bring valuable information about this process for European carniolan and Africanized honeybees.
